Welcome to Belo Horizonte

Belo Horizonte is a Brazilian city, capital of Minas Gerais. It has an area of approximately 330 km ² and a diverse geography, with hills and lowlands, lying 716 km from Brasília, the national capital.

Surrounded by the Serra do Curral, which serves as a natural frame and historical reference, was planned and built to be the political and administrative capital of the state mining under the influence of the ideas of positivism, in a moment of strong appeal of republican ideology in contuy. Suffered an unexpected rapid population growth, reaching more than 1 million people with almost 70 years of foundation. Between the 1930s and 1940s, there was also the advancement of industrialization, and many buildings of modernist inspiration, notably the Houses of Cidade Jardim, who helped define the face of the city.
